Phase Noise Influence on Bit Error Rate, Cut-off Rate and Capacity of M-QAM OFDM Signaling

چکیده
The performance of a bit-interleaved coded OFDM system disturbed by phase noise is investigated. The sensitivity is calculated as a function of the 3 dB phase noise bandwidth for several QAM constellations. The results for BER and cut-off rate (capacity) are closely related and illustrate the performance limits and required oscillator stability for an AWGN and an exemplary fading channel.

Performance Degradation of Coded-OFDM due to Phase Noise
In this paper we investigate the effect of phase noise on coded OFDM transmission with parameters typical for present OFDM based WLAN standards. Two different scenarios are compared, namely when the local oscillator at the receiver is realized as a free running oscillator or as a PLL. System performance is evaluated as a degradation of the effective SINR, using BER simulations and in terms of a...

Digital modulation techniques contribute to the evolution of our mobile wireless communications by increasing the capacity, speed and quality of wireless networks. In this p...
متن کاملM-QAM OFDM and PCC-OFDM Performance in the Presence of Phase Noise
In this paper we address the issue of OFDM and PCC-OFDM systems impaired by phase noise (PN). PCC-OFDM is a variation of OFDM in which data is mapped onto adjacent subcarrier pairs. As a result intercarrier interference (ICI) in adjacent subcarriers is cancelled. Phase noise in OFDM causes both ICI and common phase error (CPE). PCC-OFDM reduces the ICI component, but the CPE is unchanged. Theor...
